EVE Chat Tool (ECT)

EVE Chat Tool is a very, very basic chat log viewer and search utility for the EVE Online community.

To install EVE Chat Tool, download the .zip file and extract the contents to a directory and run.  EVE Chat Tool will then attempt to locate your chat log directory and will prompt you to either select the directory it has found or manually enter your own.  Once selected, configuration is complete.

ECT will then scan your chat log directory and build an index of all of your chat logs.  It creates several files which will be stored in the AppData/Local/TwistedVOID/ECT/ directory.  Once the chat logs are indexed, it will only check for new chat logs when run again.

Once running, a list of found chat logs will be displayed on the left.  Simply click to select the log you wish to view and it’s loaded and displayed on the right.

To search for a particular word, simply enter it in the search box and click search.  ECT will then rebuild the list on the left to only include those files where the word was found.  ECT will attempt to highlight any occurrence of the word found in red.  To restore the full list of available chat logs, click the reset button.

As mentioned above, ECT is a VERY basic utility with very basic search functions.  You may enter multiple search terms separated by a space. ECT will perform an OR search and display a list of all files where EITHER of the words occur.  All searches are currently not case sensitive.

You may also select text from the viewer on the right and by dragging and highlighting or by right clicking to display the popup menu you can select all text.  Then, by right clicking and selecting copy or by hitting Ctl-C you can copy the highlighted text to the Windows clipboard.

ECT is freeware.  You’re free to use it and do with it as you wish.  Use at your own risk.
